Day 8: Season 1, Episode 8 Peaceful Valley
After last episode’s painting I realized I really need to focus on not spending TOO much time on the blended background. It ends up making the entire painting compete with itself. So this time, I gave myself a short period of time to work on the mountains and ridges along the back and gave myself more permission to play around with the leaves and greenery in the front. This was an exercise in restraint, once again. It’s SO HARD for me to pull back and stop being an editor as I’m working on a painting. Critiquing my work as I’m going can make me lose sight of the entire picture. This one’s is just okay to me. I’m annoyed with the branch up in the corner but, meh. My little stream looks a bit more like a swamp. I think I’m just tired of the mountain scenes but that’s Bob Ross for ya ;)
