Day 9: Season 1, Episode 9 Seascape
I was so excited to make a beach painting that I totally just blew through Bob’s instructions because I wanted DRAMA. I loved making the sky but then as I got down to the bottom, I got back to the issue that everything looked really disjointed. Also, THE CLOUDS. THE FRIGGIN’ CLOUDS!!! I am so bad at trying to make sure the clouds don’t get too much of the spotlight. After I let this one dry, I really had to go in and mute everything down with an extra wash to diffuse the sky and the ocean. It ended up looking muddier than I wanted it to look…not really as lovely as I thought it would turn out. This one is just meh to me. I think after a while, I may learn to like it better the more I look at it but that’s once again because of my critical eye. I just needed to put the paintbrush down and walk away. That is the lesson on this one!
