Day 5: Season 1, Episode 5 Quiet Stream

The challenge with this one: INTENTION. I realized that since the acrylics are a different medium than the oil paints, I had to seriously back away from doing step-by-step what Bob was doing in the video, otherwise my paint ends up just getting too heavy and I end up with a chaotic background from back to front. So for this video, I pulled up the reference image and started to pull away from Bob’s technique to start listening to my own instincts, and thank goodness. I thought more for myself where I wanted to place the happy little trees in the front, where the various bushes would go and what would be darker or lighter. I spent less time on the stream and tried to think about the depth and greens to use on the sides of the stream. I’ve had to pause every so often and look away and come back to this one to think more about where things should go. I still think it’s missing some things but I’m trying to teach myself restraint with the paint. Don’t hate the outcome, but still verrrry different from Bob’s style.
