Day 92: Season 8, Episode 4 Waterside Way

This is another super dense painting (for such a tiny space), but I think it works. I’ve gotten used to working in layers to get that depth in the background, but I have been catching myself going a bit too heavy in the foreground, which makes things look a bit flat. I caught myself doing that when I started to create that little pathway. It wasn’t looking how I wanted it to go, so I let my paint dry a little bit and came back to it with a consciously different approach. Before, I would just beat the thing to death with the same technique over and over, but now I’ve learned to step back a little bit, let it dry and THEN try to fix it up. I’m still meh with the greenery in the very front only because I feel like it loses some depth, but I think I am slowly getting to where I would like to be when it comes to these types of paintings. My eye can see where I’m going wrong but I just need to wait a bit for my hands to catch up with my brain. Takes patience and practice!
