Day 16: Season 2, Episode 5 Autumn Splendor

I’m starting to get a better grasp at foreground/background work and saving more of my time for the foreground details–trying to leave the background areas feel ‘unfinished’. I am not real thrilled with how dark I made that green in the background area (could be lighter to help the perspective) but I think I’ve done what I set out to do here on this one. The shades of grey one from the other day helped me see things a bit more clearly when working with this one. I feel like I showed some restraint with this one and I actually love how my trees in the front turned out. I’m used to beating the trees to death with way too many leaves and color but with the ones in the foreground I really tried to make them a bit more subtle with the mark-making. The water area is an unexpected surprise…it’s not what I planned for but I really do love how it flows.
