Season 17 Recap

This season was such a wonderful surprise. I expected more mountains and forests. I got a water mill with a water wheel, Central Park in an oval, and two tiny people walking down a path together. Bob Ross varied it up and Season 17 was where they all showed up at once.

Favorite Painting: Morning Walk (E11) Two figures on a path walking toward the light. I don't know exactly why this one hit the way it did…maybe because after 220+ paintings of empty landscapes, putting people in it changed the vibe. It felt like a story instead of a scene.

Least Favorite: Mountain Beauty (E13) It's a good mountain painting, but it just had the misfortune of closing a season that had a water wheel and Central Park.

Learned the Most From: Soothing Vista (E3) The bold foreground grass taught me something about committing to a compositional element even when it feels risky. Most of my foregrounds have been soft and transitional, but making them graphic changed how the whole painting reads.
