Season 12 Overview

Looking at these all together, the color confidence is becoming one of my strong points; from the drama of the black seascape to the tropical sunset to the quiet of a winter mountain, Season 12 looks like it has much more range.

Favorite Painting: Episode 10 Mountains at Sunset. This is the one that stands out to me the most. The sky reflected in the water, the autumn tree on the left, everything working together so well. This was also painting 150!

Least Favorite Painting: Episode 2 Mountain Reflections. Nice, beautiful wildflowers, solid mountain. I just don’t feel anything when I look at it, and that’s worse than disliking it.

Painting I Learned the Most From: Episode 5 Black Seascape. Painting the ocean at night in a palette I’d never used forced me to think about light differently. I paid much more attention to shading the waves behind that big swell in the front.
